Honda Legend electrical issue

Hi, I'm experiencing a strange electrical issue with my 2000 Honda Legend (gasoline engine). It's showing 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted,' which translates to a permanent power supply interruption. The vehicle starts poorly, almost like the battery is weak. I've checked the battery voltage, and it seems okay at rest but drops significantly during startup. I suspect a heavy discharge or a defective battery, but I'm not sure how to properly troubleshoot it. Any ideas where to start?

Summary of the thread

The 2000 Honda Legend is experiencing an electrical issue, specifically a 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted' error, indicating a permanent power supply interruption. The problem manifests as poor starting, similar to a weak battery, with significant voltage drop during startup. The initial suspicion was a heavy discharge or defective battery. After further testing, it was confirmed that the battery was heavily discharged and defective, and replacing it resolved the issue.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Legend a while back. Have you checked the ignition switch? A faulty one can cause intermittent power issues. It might be worth investigating before diving into the charging system.

Thanks! I hadn't considered the ignition switch. When you say intermittent, do you mean it would cut out completely, or just a voltage drop? Also, did you experience any other symptoms besides poor starting? I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities.

In my case, it was mainly a voltage drop, especially during the initial cranking. Made starting a real chore. Given that Terminal 30 is a continuous plus, you're dealing with something affecting the battery's ability to provide a steady current. If it's not the battery itself, and if the ignition switch is a possibility that you want to discard, maybe it's best to get it properly diagnosed in a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! Turns out, after some more testing, the battery was indeed heavily discharged and defective, as initially suspected. Replaced it, and the problem is gone. A new battery set me back 290€. I didn't think about the ignition switch, but I'll keep that in mind for future reference. Your tip was really helpful in pointing me in the right direction!
