Honda Life cold start rough idle
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Honda Life with 228,604 km was experiencing rough idling during cold starts. The initial suspicion was a faulty cold start injector. After consulting with others, it was suggested to check the spark plugs and fuel filter as well. However, the issue was confirmed to be a defective injector after professional diagnosis, and replacing it resolved the problem.

I haven't checked the plugs or filter yet, but I'm leaning towards the injector because the issue is almost exclusively during cold starts. What specific injector test would you recommend to confirm a faulty injector?

Given it's a 2001 model, and based on your description, it's very likely the injector is sticking or not atomizing fuel properly when cold. Testing requires specialized equipment. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to get the fuel injection system professionally diagnosed.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was a defective injector. Repair cost me 515€, and now it runs perfectly.

Rough idle on a cold start could be a number of things, not just the injector. Have you tried any basic troubleshooting like checking the spark plugs or fuel filter? What kind of injector test did you perform to pinpoint the injector as the culprit?
