Honda Life coolant loss
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Honda Life experienced coolant loss, triggering the check engine light. Despite no visible leaks, the coolant level was low. Potential causes suggested included small cracks or leaks in the coolant reservoir, radiator hoses, or a failing water pump. Upon further inspection by a workshop, the issue was identified as a small leak in one of the radiator hoses, which was repaired.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the reservoir and hoses more closely. Where exactly is the water pump located, and is there a way to easily check if it's failing?

On the Life, the water pump is usually driven by the timing belt, so it's on the engine block, behind the timing cover. Checking it yourself can be tricky without taking things apart. Given the error code and low coolant, it's probably best to have a workshop take a look.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I took it to a shop, and it turned out to be a small leak in one of the radiator hoses. Total repair cost was 52€.

I also own a Honda Life. I had a similar issue with the coolant. Have you checked the coolant reservoir and radiator hoses for any small cracks or leaks? Also, take a look at the water pump. Sometimes, a failing water pump can cause coolant loss without a visible puddle.
