Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's showing the exact same symptoms as your BR-V did. My Mobilio has 111090 KM on it and just had its service last month. I haven't scanned for error codes yet, but the symptoms started about a week ago. It was gradual at first, just occasional jerking, then got worse pretty quickly. No unusual noises, just the rough idling and that nasty black smoke. Your repair cost sounds reasonable, I was worried it might be something way more expensive! Did you need to replace any other parts while they were working on it? Also, how long did the repair take? Would be great to know what to expect before I take it in. I've heard the fuel pressure sensor can be tricky to diagnose sometimes. Did your mechanic spot it right away or did they have to do multiple tests?

Hey again! Yeah, looking at your mileage and symptoms, it's definitely similar to what I experienced with my BR-V. Mine was at around 98000 KM when it started acting up. When I took it in, my mechanic actually spotted it pretty quick, took about 30 minutes of diagnostic testing. They hooked up the scanner and the error codes pointed straight to the fuel system. The black smoke was a dead giveaway too, classic sign of too much fuel being dumped into the engine. The actual repair was pretty straightforward, took about 2 hours total. They did recommend replacing the fuel filter while they were at it since it was due anyway, so I went ahead with that too. Added maybe 40 Euro to the bill but figured it was worth it while they were already in there. One thing I forgot to mention in my first reply, after they replaced the sensor, they had to do a quick computer reset to clear the error codes. The car ran a bit rough for the first few kilometers after that, but it sorted itself out pretty quickly. That's totally normal, by the way, just the computer relearning everything. Honestly, these Honda engines are pretty solid. Once I got this fixed, it's been running like a champ again. Just make sure you get a quality replacement sensor, my mechanic used a genuine Honda part, which probably helped avoid any repeat issues.

Really appreciate all the detailed info! That's super helpful to know about the computer reset and the initial rough running, would've definitely freaked me out if I wasn't expecting it. Makes total sense about replacing the fuel filter while they're at it. I'll probably do the same since I can't actually remember when it was last changed. Better safe than sorry, right? Think I'll get it into the shop tomorrow then, sounds like it should be a pretty straightforward fix. Really relieved it's not likely to be anything major. The symptoms were making me worried it might be something way more serious with the engine itself. Thanks again for sharing your experience! It's given me a much better idea of what to expect and helped calm my nerves about the whole thing. Will probably go with a genuine Honda sensor too, definitely worth spending a bit more to avoid future headaches.

Hey there! I've got some experience working on Hondas, I'd say intermediate level DIYer. Had almost the exact same symptoms on my 2016 Honda BR-V last year. The black smoke and stalling were driving me crazy! Turned out to be a faulty fuel pressure sensor, just like you suspect. Took it to my regular mechanic and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. Total repair cost me around 240 Euro including parts and labor. The difference after fixing it was like night and day, smooth running, no more smoke, and fuel consumption went back to normal. Before I can give more specific advice, Have you scanned for error codes? When did these symptoms first start? Have you noticed any other unusual noises or behaviors? BTW, I've also worked on the City from the same era, and they share quite a few components. Let me know those details and I can share more about what to look out for!
