HRV Electrical Speedometer Error
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda HRV with 114,217 km is experiencing a speedometer error, weak starts, and general electrical issues, suspected to be due to the auxiliary battery not charging. The symptoms suggest a low voltage issue, possibly from a failing auxiliary battery or a charging system problem. It sits maybe a day or two max. No aftermarket stuff. I haven't tested the voltage myself. What voltage should I expect?

A resting voltage below 12.6 volts for a healthy 12V auxiliary battery in your HRV would indeed indicate a problem. Given the symptoms and your due diligence in checking for parasitic draws, it does strongly point to a failing auxiliary battery or a charging system issue specific to it. Considering the error messages and potential for further electrical malfunctions, I would highly recommend a visit to a qualified workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can thoroughly test the charging system and auxiliary battery to pinpoint the root cause before it leads to more costly repairs.

Appreciate the insight. Took it to the shop, and you nailed it. Auxiliary battery was shot. 290€ later, all good.

From your description, it certainly sounds like a low voltage issue, quite possibly stemming from the auxiliary battery as you suspect. The error messages coupled with the weak starts are classic symptoms. Has the vehicle been sitting idle for extended periods? Voltage drops can occur, especially in EVs, if the battery isn't maintained. Also, are there any aftermarket electronics installed that could be drawing power, even when the car is off? Have you tested the battery voltage yourself or had it checked by a professional?
