Hyundai Accent Rough Running
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Accent is experiencing rough running, poor fuel economy, and a check engine light, indicating the engine is running too rich. The problem is suspected to be related to a defective fuel injector, which can cause a rich mixture and poor performance. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional to confirm the issue and replace the faulty injector, which resolved the problem and improved the car's performance.

The catalytic converter? Hmm, hadn't considered that. And injection valve... Is that the same as the fuel injector? Was it throwing any codes beyond the 'rich mixture'?

Yep, injection valve is the fuel injector. Honestly, I couldn't tell you the exact codes – it was a while back. But I remember the shop mentioning something about the fuel trims being way off. Best bet is to take it to a decent workshop. They'll hook it up to a proper diagnostics machine.

I'm taking her in tomorrow. Turns out, you were spot on – defective injector! Cost me 515€ to get it sorted, but she's running like a dream now!

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues on my Accent. Reduced engine power, awful fuel economy... Check your injection valve. Had a 'rich mixture' error code that turned out to be a bad injector. Is your catalytic converter alright?
