Coolant level is fine, and the temp gauge seems normal. Could a bad water valve really kill the heat completely?

Yeah, a faulty water valve can definitely mess with the heater core's ability to get hot coolant. If the engine's not overheating and the coolant level is okay, and you've got an error code pointing to the valve, it's highly likely that's your culprit. Best to get it checked by a mechanic.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the water valve, and the plug was corroded. 95€ later, and the heater is blasting hot air again! Cheers!

Hey, I've not had that exact problem, but low heating output and an error code definitely points to the cooling system. Have you checked the coolant level? And is the engine reaching normal operating temperature?
