Hyundai i10 electronic parking brake failure

I'm having trouble with the electronic parking brake on my 2023 Hyundai i10 with a gasoline engine. It's non-functional, there's an error stored, and the warning light is on. The car has 37270 km on it. Has anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

The electronic parking brake on a 2023 Hyundai i10 is non-functional, with a warning light and error message. A common cause for this issue is a failure in the electric motor within the brake caliper. After checking the brake sensor connections, it was advised to take the car to a workshop for proper diagnosis. The workshop confirmed the defective motor, leading to a successful repair.

Electronic parking brake issues on these are becoming common! I've seen a few people with similar problems, and I had a similar issue on my i10 a while back. Does the error code specify which brake caliper is faulty, or is it a generic 'EPB malfunction' message? Have you tried any basic brake diagnostics like checking the brake sensor connections?

The error code doesn't specify which caliper is faulty. I've visually inspected the brake sensor connections and they seem secure. Could you give me more details about your experience? Was the eventual repair the same for you?

Right, so mine presented the exact same way - warning light, no handbrake, generic error. It turned out to be the electric motor in the brake caliper had failed. It's a fairly common issue, apparently. If the connections are solid and you're getting a generic error, I'd suspect the motor. Honestly, given that, I'd take it to a workshop. Diagnosing these things without the proper equipment is a nightmare. They'll be able to pinpoint the faulty caliper quickly.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I took the vehicle to a workshop based on your advice. The diagnosis confirmed a defective electric motor in the brake caliper, as you suggested. The repair cost was 505€. I appreciate your help.
