Hyundai Santro Mixture Preparation Error
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Hyundai Santro with 164,786 km is experiencing a mixture preparation error, leading to reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and occasional stalling at idle, with the check engine light on. The problem is likely due to a faulty fuel injector causing a rich mixture, which can also affect spark plugs and the air-fuel ratio. The recommended solution is to have a mechanic diagnose and replace the defective injector, as confirmed by a workshop visit.

Thanks for the insight. You mentioned a faulty fuel injector. Did you diagnose that yourself, or did a mechanic figure it out? Was it difficult to replace, and did you need any special tools?

No problem! A mechanic diagnosed it in my case, using some diagnostic equipment. I wouldn't recommend tackling it yourself unless you're experienced with fuel injection systems. Incorrect fuel pressure can be dangerous. It's best to get it checked at a workshop. It is likely to be an injection valve/injector defective. Let them check the air-fuel ratio as well.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed a defective injector. The repair cost was 515€ Thanks again for sharing your experience!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old 2014 Opel Astra. Same symptoms: rough idle, check engine light, the works. Turned out to be a faulty fuel injector causing a rich mixture. Have you checked your spark plugs? A bad injector can foul them up pretty quickly. Also, you might want to look into the air-fuel ratio, and perhaps the catalytic converter, as prolonged rich running can damage it. Is the fuel consumption higher than usual?
