i10 Cruise Control Failure

Hi, I have a 2009 Hyundai i10 diesel with about 96000 km. My cruise control suddenly stopped working and doesn't engage at all anymore. I read the error memory and there is an error stored. Any ideas what could be the issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Hyundai i10 diesel owner experienced a sudden failure of the cruise control system, which no longer engaged. The issue was diagnosed as a loose wire in the cruise control lever, which was quickly repaired at a local workshop. The problem was resolved efficiently, restoring the functionality of the cruise control.

Hey, that's a bummer! I had a similar issue with my old car once. Have you checked the simple things first, like the fuse for the cruise control? Sometimes it's just a blown fuse. Also, does your brake light work properly? Some cars disable cruise control if they detect a problem with the brake light circuit. It might also be related to the throttle position sensor or even the speed sensor. Just throwing out some ideas!

Thanks for the suggestions! Where exactly is the fuse for the cruise control located? And how would I check the throttle position sensor without special tools?

I'm not sure about the exact location of the fuse box in your i10, but usually there's a diagram inside the fuse box cover or in the owner's manual. Checking the throttle position sensor properly usually requires a multimeter, which I guess you probably don't have. Considering you have an error code stored, and based on your description, the computer is likely detecting that there is an issue with a cable or plug connection of the cruise control component. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and fix it without too much hassle.

Thanks a lot! I followed your advice and took it to a local workshop. Turned out that the cruise control lever had a loose wire, and it was repaired quickly. Cost me 95€.
