i20 door lock failure
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Hyundai i20 diesel with approximately 99,983 km experienced a door lock failure, suspected to be due to a faulty door contact signal, possibly from a dodgy cable or plug connection. Suggestions included checking the electrical sensor and inspecting the wiring harness for damages. The issue was resolved by replacing a defective cable at a local garage.

Thanks for the suggestion! By door switch, do you mean the physical lock mechanism, or the electrical sensor? And how would I go about checking the wiring harness? Any specific areas to look at?

I meant the electrical sensor. If the door switch is faulty, it may cause the described problem. As for the wiring harness, inspect its plug connection for any damages. But it is hard to locate the issue without proper diagnostic tools. I suggest that you visit a workshop.

Thanks, that's helpful. I took it to a local garage, and you were right, it was a defective cable. They replaced it for 95€. All working again now!

I had a similar problem with my i20. Have you checked the door switch itself? Sometimes they get a bit wonky. It could also be the wiring harness where it connects to the door sensor.
