Yes, I did check the plug connection, several times. It appears to be seated correctly, and I don't see any obvious damage to the wiring. Could you elaborate on the specifics of your issue? Was it exactly the same set of symptoms, and did you also have the engine starting problem?

Okay, so mine wasn't exactly the same - I didn't have the starting issue, thankfully. But the cruise control and gear selection thing were definitely there. Honestly, I messed with it for a day and then just gave up and took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a dodgy sensor. Probably best to get yours checked professionally, save yourself the headache.

Thanks for the insight. It seems a workshop visit is inevitable. A diagnostic check confirmed the defective clutch pedal switch and the estimated repair cost is around 95€. Appreciate you sharing your experience.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I've got an i30 too, though a bit older, and had some similar weirdness going on a while back. My cruise control just quit, and sometimes it felt like the car didn't know what gear it was in. Did you check the simple stuff first, like making sure the plug is actually fully seated in the clutch pedal switch? It's a tight space down there.
