i30 Diesel Rail Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Hyundai i30 diesel is experiencing issues with a bad rail pressure sensor signal, indicated by a check engine light, engine stalling when idling, and reduced power. These symptoms suggest a faulty rail pressure sensor, which was confirmed through diagnostics in a similar case with an Opel Astra. Replacing the rail pressure sensor resolved the issue.

In your case with the Opel Astra, was the faulty pressure sensor confirmed with diagnostic testing, or was it identified through a process of elimination? And was the behavior identical, or were there any subtle differences in the symptoms exhibited?

No problem! It was definitely the pressure sensor – the workshop guys ran diagnostics and that's what came up. Symptoms were pretty much identical to what you described. I'd get it checked out properly at a workshop if I were you.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. I replaced the rail pressure sensor and that fixed it. Total cost was 240€.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I had almost the exact same thing happen with my old Opel Astra, although the engine was petrol. Check engine light, stalling... the whole shebang. Was it the pressure sensor for sure?
