Ikon key battery low warning
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Ikon was displaying a 'key battery low' warning, causing keyless access issues and unreliable locking/unlocking. The problem was suspected to be due to a depleted key fob battery. Replacing the battery resolved the issue, restoring functionality and clearing the error. If the problem had persisted, further investigation into potential electrical issues would have been necessary.

Thanks for the quick response. The error code is pretty generic, just indicating low voltage on the electronic key. So, you reckon replacing the key fob battery sorted it for you, nothing else?

Yes, replacing the battery resolved the 'low voltage' error and restored keyless functionality. Given your symptoms, I'd say it's highly likely to be the same issue. However, if the problem persists after replacing the battery, a visit to the workshop might be needed to rule out any deeper electrical problems.

Replaced the battery in the key, and that did the trick. Everything's working as it should again, and the error is gone. Cost me 37€ for the battery, so thanks for the advice!

I had a similar issue with my Ikon. The 'key battery low' warning can be deceiving. While it often is the battery, there can be other factors. Does the error code specify anything else besides low voltage? Try replacing the battery in the key fob first. It's the simplest and cheapest solution.
