Impala fuel flap release malfunction

Hey, I've got a 2005 Chevrolet Impala with a gasoline engine, and the fuel flap release isn't working. The error memory has a fault stored, and I can't lock or unlock the fuel filler flap anymore. Plus, some other car functions seem unavailable now. Anyone else had this happen? I've checked the key fob battery, and it seems fine. Is there anything else I can try myself?

Summary of the thread

The 2005 Chevrolet Impala's fuel flap release is malfunctioning, with a fault stored in the error memory and other car functions also affected. Possible causes include a malfunctioning electronic release mechanism, a broader electrical issue, or a defective linkage. Suggested solutions include checking the fuses related to the central locking system and consulting a qualified technician for precise diagnosis and repair. Ultimately, a defective linkage was identified and repaired.

Given the symptoms you've described, it sounds like the electronic release mechanism for the fuel flap is malfunctioning. Since other functions are also affected, it may indicate a broader electrical issue. Have you recently had any other work done on the car's electrical system, perhaps related to the central locking or security system? Checking the fuses related to the central locking system might be a good first step to rule out any simple issues.

Thanks for the advice! I haven't had any recent work done on the electrical system. I'll check the fuses as you suggested. Do you know which fuse specifically controls the fuel flap release? The manual isn't very clear on that.

Based on the information provided and the diagnostic trouble code stored, it is difficult to isolate a single fuse. It is possible the fuel flap release shares a circuit with other components. If the fuses are intact, the problem might stem from a defective linkage or a faulty actuator. The most pragmatic course of action would be to consult a qualified technician to diagnose the problem precisely and perform the necessary repairs.

Okay, I appreciate the help! I checked the fuses, and they all seem fine. Sounds like I'll have to take it to a workshop. They found a defective linkage, just like you suggested, and the total repair cost was 210€. Thanks again!
