Impala starting issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Chevy Impala was experiencing poor starting, with a code indicating a "Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted" error, suggesting a power supply issue. Possible causes included problems with the battery, starter motor circuit, or ignition switch. After professional inspection, the issue was traced to a heavily discharged and defective battery, which was replaced, resolving the starting problem.

Voltage seems okay when the engine is finally running, but I haven't checked the starter motor relay or ignition switch. Where exactly is the starter motor relay located on this model?

Given the symptoms and error, and since you are unsure of the relay location, I'd advise against probing too deeply without proper schematics and diagnostic equipment. A faulty wiring harness or malfunctioning ignition switch can also cause similar issues. It might be best to take it to a trusted workshop to pinpoint the cause precisely, preventing further complications.

Thanks for the insights. I took your advice and had a shop look at it. Turns out, the battery was heavily discharged AND defective. New battery and I'm out 290€. Starts like a charm now.

That "Terminal 30" error suggests a power supply issue, quite possibly related to the starter motor circuit. Have you checked the battery's voltage and condition? Also, have you inspected the starter motor relay and its associated wiring harness for any signs of corrosion or damage? Is the ignition switch operating smoothly?
