Insight Non Start
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Honda Insight hybrid is experiencing starting issues at 130,553 km. The initial suspicion is the engine control system, but battery connections are also considered a potential cause. It is suggested to first inspect the battery connections for corrosion or looseness, as these are common issues that can be visually identified. After checking and fixing the battery cable connections, the problem is resolved, confirming the initial advice was effective.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't measured the battery voltages yet. Can a visual inspection of the terminals really tell me much? Don't you usually need diagnostic tools for hybrid electrical problems?

A visual inspection can reveal obvious issues like corrosion or loose connections. It's best to check the battery connections first. If the problem continues, a diagnostic scan is needed to read error codes related to the engine control system. Consider a workshop with hybrid experience.

Thanks for the guidance. I checked, and the battery cable connections were bad. 155€ fixed it. Your advice was invaluable.

A non-start on a hybrid Insight often means electrical issues. While engine control is possible, start with the battery connections. Have you checked the voltage of both the 12V auxiliary battery and the high-voltage hybrid battery? Also, inspect the terminals and cables for corrosion or looseness. Are there any warning lights on when you try to start it?
