Insight oil pressure warning
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Honda Insight hybrid displayed an oil pressure warning light, potentially due to skipped maintenance. The dark oil suggests sludge buildup, which can cause low pressure. An oil and filter change might temporarily resolve the issue, but a mechanic should inspect the vehicle to prevent further damage.

Thanks. The oil does look darker than usual, but I'm not sure about 'sludgy'. No strange noises that I can hear. Would a simple oil and filter change fix it, or do I need a more detailed check?

Dark oil and warning lights suggest the long oil change interval caused sludge and low pressure. An oil and filter change might help for a bit, but don't drive it until a mechanic checks it out. It might fix it, but you could cause more damage.

Thanks, I won’t drive it. I'll book it into my local garage ASAP. Thanks again for the tip about the maintenance. The final repair cost was 165€.

I had something similar with my 2014 Opel Astra after skipping an oil change. Does the oil look dark or sludgy on the dipstick? Any weird engine noises, especially when starting? An oil leak could drop the pressure and trigger the light.
