Insight Rear Ventilation Flap Problem

Rear ventilation flap issue on my 2005 Honda Insight hybrid. Error memory shows a fault, climate control malfunction, and no AC cooling. Mileage is 206521 km. Suspect a cable or plug issue. Already ran system diagnostics. Anyone seen similar air distribution problems?

Summary of the thread

A 2005 Honda Insight hybrid is experiencing a rear ventilation flap issue, resulting in climate control malfunction and no AC cooling. The problem is suspected to be related to a cable or plug issue, as initial diagnostics and basic checks like fuse inspection and a hard reset did not resolve it. The likely causes are identified as a fault in the wiring harness to the rear ventilation flap actuator or the actuator itself. It is recommended to inspect the connector at the actuator motor and trace the wiring for any breaks or corrosion, with a workshop visit advised for further diagnosis and repair.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I've seen this on similar year Insights. The rear ventilation system can be sensitive. Did you check the fuse for the rear climate control? Have you tried a hard reset of the climate control unit by disconnecting the battery for a bit?

Thanks, I checked the fuses, and they're fine. Hard reset didn't fix it. Can you tell me about specific plug connections or wiring harnesses that tend to fail in this system?

Since you did the basic checks, the fault is likely in the wiring harness to the rear ventilation flap actuator, or the actuator itself. Check the connector at the actuator motor and trace the wiring for breaks or corrosion. It's hard to pinpoint without special tools. Given what you've tried, a workshop visit is wise. Repair will be around 95€.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I'll have it inspected at a workshop for wiring or actuator issues. Your insights helped narrow it down. The repair was indeed 95€.
