Insignia Camshaft Sensor Faulty Cable

I have a 2021 Vauxhall Insignia with a gasoline engine that's exhibiting poor starting, reduced power, and an error code. I suspect a defective camshaft sensor. Could a faulty cable or plug connection be the problem? Anyone seen similar symptoms?

That sounds frustrating! I had almost the exact same problem with my old Renault Megane. Started acting up with similar symptoms. Check engine light came on, felt like I was driving through molasses, and yeah, an error code popped up too. Is your check engine light on? The issue I had was the crankshaft sensor connection. Did you check the resistance of the sensor?

Yes, the check engine light is on. Regarding the resistance of the sensor, could you elaborate on the process of testing it? What readings should I be looking for, and where did you find the correct values for comparison?

Alright, check engine light is on, good to know. I'm not an expert, and I really don't want you messing anything up. In my case, it was definitely the sensor cable. I'd recommend taking your Vauxhall to a workshop. It cost me around 80€ to fix the cable. I did not test anything by myself, the mechanics did. They can run proper diagnostics and pinpoint the issue. Probably cheaper than buying all the tools and possibly making things worse!

I took the vehicle to a trusted workshop. The issue was diagnosed as a defective camshaft sensor, with the cable connection identified as the likely cause. The repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 95€. Your experience proved invaluable.
