Insignia Cruise Control Failure: Common Fixes Needed

Hi everyone, my 2021 Vauxhall Insignia (petrol) has an issue with the cruise control, it's completely stopped working and showing a fault code. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Looking to hear what caused it in your case and how your mechanic fixed it. Not sure if it's a sensor, switch, or something else entirely. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Astra (also had a Corsa before). I've got some experience working with cars, but mostly basic maintenance stuff. My cruise control completely died last year, turned out to be a faulty cable connection to one of the sensors. Took it to my local mechanic, and they diagnosed it pretty quickly. The repair cost me around 155€, which included labor and replacing the damaged wiring. Before I can share more specific details that might help, could you tell me if you're getting any specific error messages on your dash? Also, did the cruise control stop working suddenly or was it acting up before it completely failed? Let me know and I'll try to help further!

Thanks for the info! Yeah, mine just suddenly died last week with no warning signs. I'm getting error code P0575 on the dash. My car's at 153820 KM and had its last service about two months ago, so it's pretty frustrating having issues already. I think I'll take it to a mechanic this week to check it out, but wanted to get some insights from others first. Really hoping it's just a wiring issue like yours and not something more serious!

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details. that P0575 code sounds really familiar, that's exactly what I got on my Astra when the cruise control went out! Since you mentioned your mileage, mine was actually around 140,000 KM when it happened, so pretty similar to yours. It's super annoying when these things pop up right after a service, isn't it? But don't worry too much, even though my issue was a wiring problem, it wasn't anything catastrophic. Just to share a bit more about my experience: after they fixed that cable connection I mentioned, I haven't had any issues since (it's been about 14 months now). The mechanic told me it's actually pretty common for these connections to get loose or corroded over time, especially in our Vauxhalls. Quick tip though, when you take it in, make sure they check the brake pedal switch too. My mechanic initially thought that might be the culprit in my case. Could save you some diagnostic time! Keep me posted on what they find. I'm curious to know if it's the same issue as mine!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really reassuring to hear it was a relatively simple fix in your case, and especially good to know about the brake pedal switch, I'll definitely mention that to my mechanic. It's weird how these things happen at similar mileage points, right? I've booked it in for Thursday morning, so I'll let you know what they find. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Fingers crossed it's just a wiring issue like yours and I'll be back cruising on the motorway by the weekend! Thanks again for all your help!
