Insignia Electrical Issues

Experiencing electrical issues with my 2020 Vauxhall Insignia diesel. 239537 km on the clock. Getting an error message on the speedometer, related to electrical issues and a stored error in the system memory. Starter motor is turning over slower than usual, almost like the battery is weak, and generally the electrics seem a bit haywire. My initial thoughts are the auxiliary battery isn't charging properly. Anyone encountered similar?

Sounds familiar! I had similar electrical issues with my Insignia, although I don't remember the exact error codes. Did you check the auxiliary battery's voltage with a multimeter? A low voltage could definitely cause those symptoms. Have you also inspected the connections and wiring for any corrosion or damage? I suspect a parasitic draw or a faulty charging circuit.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the voltage with a multimeter yet. When you say parasitic draw or faulty charging circuit, are you talking about the main battery or the auxiliary one? I am having a hard time wrapping my head around where to start.

In my experience, it was related to the auxiliary battery, which is responsible for the start-stop system and other electrical functions. The ECU monitors its performance, and if it detects low voltage or charging issues, it can throw all sorts of errors. I would advise testing the auxiliary battery and its charging circuit. I went to the nearest workshop, who did a readout of the entire car electronics. The 290€ was worth it, as it gave me a clear understanding where to focus on.

Thanks, that's really helpful to know. I'll take your advice and get the auxiliary battery and charging system checked out thoroughly. Saved me plenty of headache, as I was about to look into the main car battery. The garage confirmed the auxiliary battery was faulty and not holding charge. Replaced it for 290€ and all the errors are gone. Thanks again!
