Insignia Error Messages Infotainment Speedometer

I'm having trouble with my 2008 Vauxhall Insignia (gasoline engine). It's got around 100475 km on the clock. I keep getting error messages – one stored in the error memory that I saw with my cheap OBD-II scan tool, and also an error message popping up on the infotainment system AND the speedometer. I'm not really a car expert, so any help would be appreciated! Could it be something serious, or is it maybe just a glitch?

I also drive an Insignia, and a little while ago I encountered almost identical errors! Error messages on both the infotainment and the instrument panel can be caused by a variety of things, but in my case, it was due to incorrect coding of the control module. It's a little tricky to diagnose on your own without specialized tools, and it sounds quite like you've already done what you can with your basic scan tool. Does your check engine light also come on?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the check engine light is on as well. So, if it was the coding, what exactly did you do to fix it? Is it something I could potentially try myself, or is it best left to a professional?

Given the symptoms, it’s quite likely that it is the coding, though I cannot be sure. I definitely would not recommend trying to fix the coding of the control module yourself. Incorrect coding can cause further problems. Instead, take it to a workshop with the appropriate diagnostic equipment; they will probably re-code the control module and get things working properly again. The mechanic should perform an engine diagnostics test, and this should get the error to go away.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was indeed the coding of the control module. They re-coded it, and now everything seems to be working fine. The repair cost was 360€, but at least the error messages are gone! Thanks again for your help!
