Insignia knock sensor fault

Hi, I have a 2010 Vauxhall Insignia with a gasoline engine. The check engine light comes on. I've noticed higher fuel consumption and uneven idling. I suspect the knock sensor is defective. I checked the cable and plug connection.

Knock sensor, eh? That's a common gremlin. But uneven idling and higher fuel consumption could be a few things. Did you check for any obvious damage to the wiring harness near the sensor? Sometimes rodents get hungry. Also, have you scanned the car for specific error codes? Knowing the code will pinpoint the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. No visible damage to the wiring. I get error code P0325. Does this confirm the knock sensor?

P0325! Yeah, that's the knock sensor circuit alright. Given your symptoms and the code, I'd say it's almost certainly the culprit. While you could try replacing the sensor yourself, those things can be a pain to get to, and if the connection is truly the issue, you might chase your tail. Honestly, for peace of mind, a workshop visit might be the best bet. They can properly diagnose and rule out other potential issues before slapping in a new sensor.

Thanks for your help. Took it to the workshop. They confirmed it was the knock sensor cable. Repair cost 95€.
