Insignia mirror heating problem

Alright, Vauxhall gurus, I've got a head-scratcher. My 2012 Insignia diesel has a mirror heating problem. Both mirrors are stone cold, even when it's frosty. Error memory shows a fault related to the heating circuit. I've checked the fuses – all good. From what I've read, it's likely a dodgy connection somewhere. Anyone else seen this on an Insignia?

I had a similar issue with my Volvo V70. Mirror heating failed and the diagnostic also pointed to a circuit issue. Have you checked the wiring and connectors at the mirror housing itself? Those connections can corrode or become loose over time, especially with the temperature fluctuations.

Yeah, I was planning on digging into that next. Any tips for getting the mirror off without breaking anything? And did you find the issue on your Volvo to be a simple fix, or something more involved?

On the Volvo, it was indeed the connector within the mirror housing. It had corroded due to water ingress. I would suggest checking for voltage at the connector with a multimeter, if possible. If there's no voltage, the problem is further upstream, perhaps a broken wire in the door harness. Considering the diagnostic error, going to a workshop might be the most efficient approach to rule out more complex electrical issues.

Thanks for the insight. I'll check the connections myself first. If that doesn't solve it, I'll get it checked by a shop. They quoted me around 95€ – hopefully that covers it!
