Insignia preheating lamp and check engine light

Hi, I'm having issues with my 2015 Vauxhall Insignia diesel. It's got 234839 km on the clock. Recently, the preheating lamp hasn't been switching off, and the check engine light is now constantly on. I've also noticed some smoke when accelerating. I've checked the preheating control unit and the cables/plugs look okay, but I suspect that's where the problem lies. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any thoughts before I start tearing things apart?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Insignia. Is it the same symptoms, preheating lamp and check engine light? It turned out to be related to the preheating system, though I didn't notice any smoke. Did you check the voltage at the glow plugs themselves?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the voltage at the glow plugs directly, but the plug connection of the control unit looks fine. Was your issue definitely the preheating control unit itself, or something else in the ignition system? I'm trying to avoid replacing the wrong component.

Yep, same symptoms. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it diagnosed properly. In my case it was the cable or plug connection of the preheating control unit. Cost me 95€.

Thanks for the advice! I did end up taking it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was the cable or plug connection of the preheating control unit. 95€ later, it's all sorted. Appreciate the help!
