Insignia Water Sensor Error

Cheers! I'll have a look at the wiring and plug tomorrow. I used one of those cheap OBD2 readers from eBay. It just said 'Water in Fuel Sensor Circuit Malfunction'. Could it be anything else, or is it definitely the wiring?

Well, 'Water in Fuel Sensor Circuit Malfunction' pretty much points to the sensor or its wiring. Given the rough running, it's less likely to be actual water in the fuel though it's still possible. Could be a faulty sensor itself, but wiring/plugs are the usual suspect. If you're not comfortable digging too deep, a garage should be able to diagnose it pretty quickly. Shouldn't cost too much to fix, I'd imagine.

You were spot on. Took it to the garage, and it was a corroded connector on the sensor. They cleaned it up and replaced the connector. Cost me 95€ all in. Runs like a dream now. Thanks for the help!

Rough running and a water sensor error? Hmm, sounds like a dodgy connection to me. I'd check the wiring and the plug going into the sensor itself. Give it a wiggle, see if anything changes. Could be a loose wire or corrosion. Where exactly did you read out the error? Was it the exact description of the fault, or just the generic code?
