Insignia weak battery flickering lights

Having trouble with my 2020 Vauxhall Insignia (gasoline engine). Battery seems weak when starting, especially on cold mornings. Lights sometimes flicker, or seem dimmer than usual. Connections seem fine. Car has 145467 km on it. Read that a defective battery sensor could cause these issues because the ECU isn't getting the right data about battery health. Anyone experienced anything similar? Trying to avoid unnecessary costs. Done some basic battery testing, voltage seems within the normal range when the engine is running, but drops quite a bit when the engine is off. Any thoughts?

I had similar issues with my Insignia. Weak starting, lights a bit funny. Turned out to be the battery sensor. They muck up the voltage regulation.

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you remember any specific symptoms you had besides weak starting and flickering lights? And did you also try doing any battery testing yourself beforehand?

Yeah, pretty much those two things. Didn't bother with testing myself, seemed like a waste of time. Just took it to a workshop, they confirmed the battery sensor was faulty. Cost about 315€ all in. Worth getting it checked.

Okay, that's really helpful to know. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to a trusted mechanic and get the battery sensor properly diagnosed. Hopefully, it's a straightforward fix like yours, and the cost won't be too far off. Thanks again!
