Inspire Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Honda Inspire is experiencing a cruise control failure, with the 'cruise' light not activating and the system being unresponsive. The issue might be related to wheel speed sensors or a defective clock spring, as these components are crucial for cruise control functionality. Checking the sensors requires specific tools and knowledge, so it is recommended to have a workshop diagnose and potentially fix the problem, focusing on cable or plug connections.

Thanks! The brake lights are working fine. I hadn't considered the wheel speed sensors or the clock spring. Where exactly are those sensors located, and is there a way to check them myself before taking it back to the shop? I am a bit frustrated, because a garage already took a look at it.

On the Vectra, the speed sensors were mounted near each wheel hub. As for checking them yourself, you'd need a multimeter and some knowledge of the wiring diagram for your Inspire. Honestly, without the right tools and information, you might be better off letting a workshop handle it. The plug connection to the component is also a common culprit. They will be able to pinpoint the exact sensor and test its output. You could spend hours troubleshooting and still be none the wiser.

Okay, I understand. It sounds more complicated than just a simple fuse issue. I appreciate the advice! I'll take it back to the workshop and mention the wheel speed sensors and the clock spring. They quoted me 95€ for fixing a cable or plug connection of the component. Let's hope that's it.

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Vectra, though it was a diesel. Cruise control suddenly stopped working. It was a faulty connection to one of the wheel speed sensors. The car needs that data to maintain a set speed, so if it's missing, the cruise control won't engage. Does your brake light work correctly? Is there any chance that the clock spring in the steering wheel could be defective?
