Integra engine running rough fuel pressure sensor

Hey, I'm having some serious trouble with my 2002 Honda Integra, it's got a gasoline engine. I've only done 34704 km. The check engine light is on, and the engine is running really rough. It even stalls sometimes when I'm idling, which is super annoying. And when I try to accelerate, it feels like the car is jerking. Could this be a fuel pump issue? Maybe something with the fuel delivery?

Summary of the thread

The 2002 Honda Integra was experiencing rough engine performance, stalling, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The issue was suspected to be related to the fuel delivery system, possibly the fuel pump. However, it was suggested that the problem might be a faulty fuel pressure sensor or its connection. Upon inspection by a mechanic, the issue was confirmed to be a defective cable to the fuel pressure sensor, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Integra. Not sure what year your model is, but the symptoms you are describing sound a lot like what happened when my fuel pressure sensor went bad. Before throwing money at a fuel pump, have you checked the cable or plug connection to the sensor? It might be something simple like a loose or corroded connector. Think of it like a loose wire on a lamp – no power, no light.

Thanks for the quick reply! Fuel pressure sensor, huh? Where exactly is that located, and how would I check the cable or plug connection? I'm not super mechanically inclined, so bear with me. Is it something I can easily see, or do I need to start taking things apart?

Okay, so on my Integra, the fuel pressure sensor is located on the fuel rail. The fuel rail is that metal tube that sends gasoline to the engine's injectors. It might be worth getting a mechanic to check that for you. Mine had a similar problem, which turned out to be a defective cable or plug connection which caused the sensor to stop working. It's like your car's check engine light constantly being on because one little wire isn't connected. I would strongly recommend you take it to a shop, a faulty fuel system can cause expensive damage to the engine, especially if you still keep on driving it!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the advice. I took it to my mechanic, and you were spot on. It was the fuel pressure sensor cable! He replaced it for 95€ and now it runs like new. You saved me a ton of stress and potential money by suggesting that. Cheers!
