Integra reduced engine power
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda Integra hybrid with 235,378 km was experiencing reduced engine power, jerking during acceleration, and emitting black smoke. The issue was suspected to be pre-ignition, potentially caused by engine knock due to combustion chamber deposits. A workshop visit confirmed the deposits, and after engine tuning and cleaning, the vehicle's performance improved.

I've consistently used the recommended fuel. The smoke is black. If it's engine knock, what are the likely culprits?

Black smoke suggests rich running, possibly due to deposits in the combustion chamber triggering pre-ignition. This would explain the knocking and reduced power. Workshop visit recommended for engine tuning.

Thank you for the insight. The workshop confirmed combustion chamber deposits. Engine tuning and cleaning cost 425€. Runs smoothly now.

Sounds like engine knock. Have you checked fuel octane? Is the smoke black or blue?
