Ioniq AC problem

Alright Ioniq fam, I've got a head-scratcher. My 2020 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid (146114 km on the clock) is throwing some serious shade. Basically, the A/C is MIA, and I'm getting an error message on the dash related to the climate control. I pulled the codes, and it's pointing to a defective temperature sensor in the heat exchanger. Could this be related to a sensor malfunction or is there a coolant leak at play here?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid experienced an air conditioning malfunction, with an error message indicating a defective temperature sensor in the heat exchanger. The issue could stem from a sensor malfunction or a coolant leak. After clearing the error memory and considering potential causes, it was determined that the air conditioning control unit was defective. Replacing the control unit resolved the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Greetings. Thank you for the detailed information regarding your Hyundai Ioniq. The symptoms you describe, specifically the error message coupled with the non-functional air conditioning system, do indeed suggest a potential issue with the temperature sensor within the heat exchanger. Is it possible the error memory has not been cleared since the last maintenance?

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I actually cleared the error memory yesterday hoping it was just a fluke, but the error message and the A/C problem came right back. I'm wondering, could a simple sensor calibration solve this, or are we looking at something more serious like a faulty control unit frying the sensor?

Given that you have cleared the error memory and the issue persists, the probability of a simple sensor calibration resolving the problem is significantly reduced. It is quite plausible, as you suggested, that the air conditioning control unit itself is defective and causing the sensor to malfunction. Therefore, I must recommend that you bring your car into the workshop.

Appreciate the insight. Took your advice and bit the bullet, went to the local shop. Turns out it was the A/C control unit, just like you suspected! New unit plus labor set me back 980€, but at least I'm back to cool breezes. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
