ix35 Door Locking Issue

My 2015 Hyundai ix35, gasoline engine, has about 194793 km on it. Recently, the doors won't lock or unlock anymore, whether I use the remote or the key. I'm thinking it might be a door contact signal issue, maybe a dodgy cable or plug somewhere. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Hyundai ix35 owner experienced a door locking issue where the doors wouldn't lock or unlock using the remote or key. The problem was suspected to be related to a door contact signal, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug. After consulting with others who had similar issues, it was suggested to check the door sensor or latch for electrical problems. The owner took the car to a workshop, where it was confirmed that a defective cable connection was the cause, and the issue was resolved by replacing the faulty part.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. The car alarm was going crazy, and I couldn't lock the doors properly. Turned out to be a faulty door switch. Have you checked the door sensor or latch? Could be an electrical issue there.

Thanks for the quick reply! How did you figure out it was the door switch specifically? Was it something you could diagnose yourself, or did you need special tools?

Well, I tried a few things, but eventually, I took it to a workshop. They ran some diagnostics and pinpointed it to the door switch pretty quickly. It's probably best to get it checked by a professional, especially if you're not too familiar with car electrics. Cost me about 80€ back then, but prices may vary. Save yourself the hassle and potential further damage.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was the door contact signal due to a defective cable connection. They replaced the faulty part, and everything's working fine now. Cost me 95€ in the end. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
