ix35 Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor Error

My 2012 Hyundai ix35, gasoline engine, with 200k km is acting up. The MIL is on, logging a transmission oil temperature sensor error. I'm getting gearbox slippage, especially on upshifts, and a grinding noise sometimes. Emergency mode twice this week. I suspect low gearbox oil. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Hyundai ix35 with 200,000 km is experiencing a transmission oil temperature sensor error, leading to gearbox slippage, grinding noises, and emergency mode activation. The suspected cause is low gearbox oil. The solution involved checking and topping off the oil level and replacing the faulty sensor, which resolved the shifting issues.

I have an ix35 and had similar issues recently. Did you check the oil sensor?

Yes, the sensor's getting power and seems to read something, but the values are all over. What was your fix? Was it just the sensor or something else?

My issue was the oil level and the sensor misreading because of it. I'd suggest having a workshop check the oil level.

It was the oil level. I topped it off and replaced the faulty sensor for 365€. It's shifting smoothly now. Thanks for the tip!
