Jaguar E Pace Mic Failure Blocks Hands-Free Calling

Having issues with my 2023 Jaguar E Pace Hybrid where the hands-free calling suddenly stopped working. The voice recognition system is not picking up any input, and the error log shows a related fault. Ambient noise is normal, and the wireless connection appears stable when checking phone settings. The Bluetooth issue seems isolated to the microphone function since music streaming still works fine through the audio system. Has anyone encountered similar problems with their hands-free mic? Looking for insights on diagnostic steps and repair solutions from those who got this fixed at their workshop.

Been through something very similar with my 2021 Jaguar F Pace Hybrid last winter. As someone who deals with car electronics regularly, I can share my experience. The volume control and voice recognition system completely failed, despite the wireless connection showing as active. After trying basic troubleshooting like resetting the infotainment system and checking audio input settings, nothing worked. Took it to the workshop where they diagnosed a faulty microphone module in the overhead console. The ambient noise sensor was also affected, which explained why the system wasnt responding to voice commands. The entire infotainment control unit needed replacement, costing 815€ including programming and testing. Few questions to better assist: Have you checked if the issue persists after a complete system reboot? Does your phone connect normally with other vehicles? Are there any other warning messages on the infotainment display? Which software version is currently installed? This could also be related to a recent software update. Would help to know these details to narrow down if your case matches what I experienced or if its something different.

Latest service was performed at 112000 KM. The microphone repair has now been completed. The issue was indeed related to a faulty connection in the overhead console, similar to what you experienced. However, in my case the fix was much simpler and less expensive. The technician found a loose wiring harness affecting the sound quality and speech recognition performance. After reconnecting and securing the cables properly, the audio system is now functioning perfectly. The total repair cost came to 190€ including diagnostic time. Voice commands and hands-free calling are working as expected through the volume control interface. If others encounter similar symptoms, checking the basic wiring connections before replacing the entire module could save significant repair costs.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear you got it resolved without needing the complete module replacement like I did. Its interesting how similar symptoms can have different root causes. My wireless connection issues turned out to be more severe, requiring that costly control unit replacement, while your audio input problems were solved with basic wiring repairs. The speech recognition and Bluetooth issue can definitely stem from simple connection problems that dont require extensive microphone repair work. This makes me think I should have pushed the workshop to check the wiring harness more thoroughly before jumping to replace the whole unit. Could have saved me over 600€. This kind of feedback really helps others troubleshoot similar voice command and hands-free system failures. Its worth starting with the simpler fixes before assuming the worst. Would be useful to know if the loose connection showed any early warning signs that others could watch out for.

Appreciate the detailed follow-up. You make a great point about checking wiring connections first. Looking back, there were actually some early warning signs I hadnt mentioned. The voice recognition would occasionally cut out during longer calls about a week before the complete failure. The sound quality would also fluctuate when going over bumps, which now makes perfect sense given the loose connection. For anyone reading this thread later: My repair receipt shows they tested the ambient noise sensors and speech recognition components individually before discovering the wiring issue. The technician mentioned these overhead console wiring problems are more common than dealers sometimes admit. The 190€ repair has held up perfectly for several weeks now. Bluetooth connectivity, voice commands, and hands-free calling all work smoothly. The sound quality is actually better than before, likely because the connection was partially loose for some time. Much better outcome than spending 800€+ on a new module. Will definitely request thorough wiring checks first if I encounter any microphone or audio system issues in the future.
