Jumper Automatic Transmission Problem

Hi, I've got a problem with my 2001 Citroen Jumper, gasoline engine. The van won't start, and the check engine light is on. It's only got 50373 km on the clock. I suspect it's related to the automatic transmission, specifically the parking position. Sometimes it feels like the gearbox slips or doesn't shift cleanly. I scanned the error memory and found an error related to the transmission. Could a defective control unit really cause this? I've checked the gear linkage and the shifter, but everything seems mechanically sound.

I had a similar issue with my Jumper's automatic transmission. Check if it also happens in neutral. If so, could be the control unit. Does the error code point to that?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it also happens in neutral - exactly the same symptoms. The error code vaguely points to a control unit malfunction, but not specifically. Did the control unit replacement fix your problem entirely, and do you remember what the exact error code was, or if you experienced slipping gear?

Yes, replacing the control unit fixed my problem. The error code was related to implausible signal from the transmission. I also experienced slipping gears before it completely failed. Time to visit a workshop, I suppose?

Thanks for confirming that it was most likely the control unit. I took it to a local mechanic; they diagnosed it as a defective control unit, same as you. Repair cost: 1000€. At least now I know what to expect! Cheers!
