Jumper check engine light VANOS issue

Hi, I have a 2012 Citroen Jumper with a diesel engine and 87375 km on the clock. The check engine light comes on and fuel consumption is higher than usual. I suspect the inlet VANOS mechanics are faulty. Could it be a defective camshaft solenoid valve or a power supply issue?

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my Jumper, though I didn't check the mileage. Check engine light and higher fuel consumption, sounds familiar, right? Have you checked the VANOS solenoid? Could be clogged or faulty.

Thanks! I'll take a look. Did you experience any other symptoms besides the check engine light and fuel consumption? How did you diagnose the VANOS solenoid as the culprit?

Well, no other symptoms that I recall. Diagnosing it yourself can be tricky. I'd suggest visiting a workshop, as they have the proper tools to diagnose if the VANOS solenoid is defective. If so, replacing it should solve the issue.

Thanks for your help! The workshop confirmed it was indeed the VANOS solenoid. Replaced it, and the engine light is gone, plus fuel consumption is back to normal. Cost me around 250€.
