Kadjar AC Compressor Shut Off

Hi, I'm having trouble with the A/C in my 2018 Renault Kadjar with a gasoline engine. It's got 126134 km on the clock. The air conditioning system just doesn't switch on anymore, so no cooling whatsoever. I've checked the obvious stuff like fuses and the refrigerant level seems okay. I even plugged in my OBD reader and found an error stored related to undervoltage. Has anyone experienced similar A/C compressor shut off issues?

Hey! I have a Kadjar too, and your issue sounds painfully familiar. I had a similar problem with my A/C last summer. The undervoltage error is a good clue. Did you check the relay switch for the A/C compressor? Also, give the pressure sensor a look. A faulty sensor can trigger a compressor shutdown to protect the system. Just a thought, but has your battery been tested recently?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the A/C compressor relay or the pressure sensor. I'll definitely take a look at those. When you had the issue, was it intermittent, or did the A/C just completely stop working? And did the undervoltage code point directly to the relay/sensor, or was it more general?

For me, it was completely dead, no cooling whatsoever. The undervoltage code was a bit general, but after some digging, it turned out the A/C compressor was faulty and caused an undervoltage situation. You probably should visit a workshop and get the AC compressor checked out. A faulty compressor can cause exactly this behaviour.

I took it to a local workshop as you suggested. They confirmed it was indeed the A/C compressor. They diagnosed a faulty compressor as you said. Cost me 240€ including parts and labor to replace the compressor. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
