Kadjar Boost Pressure Problem

I'm having trouble with my 2020 Renault Kadjar, gasoline engine, 90249 km on the clock. The check engine light is on, power is down, and the engine response is poor. It sometimes stalls, and fuel consumption is up. I hear whistling and hissing when I accelerate. I think it might be the wastegate valve. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my BMW 3 Series. Symptoms were almost identical. Have you checked the throttle body for buildup? Sometimes a dirty throttle body can mimic boost problems. Also, have you tried to read the error code? That might pinpoint the problem.

Thanks. I haven't checked the throttle body yet, but I will. The error code indicates a boost pressure regulation issue. How did you diagnose the wastegate valve on your BMW?

The error code pointed to boost issues for me too, but it was a wild goose chase. I checked hoses, the intercooler, you name it. Eventually, the hissing got louder, and a buddy pointed to the wastegate actuator. It was stuck open. Honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, it’s probably best to get it checked by a mechanic. They can pressure test the system and confirm it.

Thanks for the advice. I've booked it in with a mechanic. It looks like the wastegate valve is the problem. Repair cost is about 860€. I'll post again when it's fixed.
