Kadjar Check Engine Light and Stalling

My 2022 Renault Kadjar diesel is throwing a check engine light and stalling at idle. Mileage is 155069 km. I suspect a fuel tank ventilation system leak, maybe a defective activated charcoal filter. Anyone else experienced this? What else could cause these symptoms AND trigger emission control warnings?

That's a frustrating issue! I have a Kadjar too, and your description sounds awfully familiar. Did you notice any hissing sounds coming from the fuel tank area, particularly after a long drive? Or perhaps a stronger than usual fuel odor?

A hissing sound, you say? Now that you mention it, I HAVE heard something like that after longer trips. And yes, a faint fuel smell occasionally. Could that really be related? What was the fix for your Kadjar? Was it also the EVAP system acting up?

Yes, those symptoms do point towards the EVAP system, specifically a leak in the fuel tank ventilation. I'd strongly advise taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis, though. It could be a faulty pressure sensor as well, so pinpointing the exact culprit requires professional equipment. It might be worth checking the charcoal filter as you mentioned. In the end, it’s best to let the professionals sort it out.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I bit the bullet and took it to the workshop and it was indeed a leak related to the charcoal filter. It set me back 275€, but at least the Kadjar is running smoothly again. Much appreciated!
