Kadjar Low Brake Fluid

That's interesting! I haven't specifically checked the pads and discs myself, but the car did pass its roadworthiness inspection a few months back. Surely they would have picked up on worn brakes then? I'm just wondering how quickly brake pads can wear down after that point. Would that really be enough to cause the fluid level to drop significantly?

While the roadworthiness inspection should cover brake wear, it doesn't always guarantee they're in perfect condition. It's possible they were borderline back then and have worn further since. Given the mileage and the spongy pedal, I'd definitely get the brakes properly inspected by a mechanic. It's better to be safe than sorry with brakes.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local garage, and you were spot on – the front pads were worn. They replaced the pads and discs and did a brake fluid change. Cost me 480€, but at least I know it's sorted now. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction!

I also have a Kadjar, and I had something similar happen a while ago. Low brake fluid definitely affects the pedal feel; spongy is a good way to describe it. Have you checked your brake pads and discs? If they're worn down, it takes more fluid to operate the calipers, which can lower the fluid level in the reservoir. Also, have you had the brakes inspected recently?
