Kadjar uneven engine running

Alright, I'm stumped. I've got a 2021 Renault Kadjar with a gasoline engine that's been giving me fits. It's done 246689 km, and recently the engine's been running super unevenly. The check engine light is on, and I've got some error codes stored. Plus, it feels like the car's jerking when I try to accelerate. Could it be something simple, like bad spark plugs or a dodgy ignition coil? Or am I looking at something more sinister, like a crankshaft sensor or fuel injector problem? Any ideas?

Uneven running and a check engine light can be a pain. Did you ever experience anything like rough idle alongside the other symptoms? I had a similar issue with my old Opel Insignia; it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system. Could be worth checking for that.

An exhaust leak, eh? I haven't noticed any obvious hissing or anything. But the exhaust fumes do smell a bit stronger than usual. Where exactly should I be looking for this leak? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

With exhaust leaks, it's often tricky to pinpoint the exact location without proper tools. However, a stronger exhaust smell is definitely a sign. Given the error codes and jerking, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can perform a smoke test to identify any leaks precisely. Prevention is always better than cure.

Thanks for the advice! You were spot on; it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system, just like you suspected. The workshop found it in no time and fixed it for 265€. The engine is running smoothly again. Cheers!
