Kadjar Windshield Wipers Not Working

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Renault Kadjar (gasoline engine). The windshield wipers have completely stopped working. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. I also ran a scan and it shows an error related to the wiper switch circuit. I'm suspecting a bad connection, maybe in the wiring harness or a faulty plug. Has anyone experienced something similar with their Kadjar? It's got 162040 km on the clock.

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Renault Kadjar's windshield wipers have stopped working, despite the fuses being intact. An error related to the wiper switch circuit suggests a potential issue with the wiring harness or a faulty plug. A similar problem was resolved by checking the rain sensor connection, located behind the rearview mirror, which can disable the wipers if faulty. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosed a defective cable or plug connection as the cause.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a similar problem with my Kadjar a while back. The wipers just wouldn't budge. I also initially suspected the switch. Did you check the rain sensor connection as well? Sometimes a faulty sensor can cause issues with the entire wiper system. The turn signal works fine, right?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the rain sensor connection specifically. Where is it located, and is it easy to access? And yes, the turn signals are working perfectly. Could a faulty rain sensor really disable the entire wiper system, even in manual mode?

Yes, on my Kadjar the faulty rain sensor did disable the entire wiper system. It is located behind the rearview mirror, attached to the windshield. It might be worth checking the connector for corrosion or loose pins. Honestly, after fiddling around with it for an afternoon, I ended up taking it to a workshop. They identified a faulty wire in the harness. I would advise that you do the same.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll check the rain sensor connection, but it sounds like I'll probably need to take it to a workshop to get the wiring properly diagnosed. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but it's looking like it will be more involved. The workshop confirmed a defective cable or plug connection. Repair cost is 95€.
