Kangoo handsfree microphone failure
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Kangoo's hands-free microphone stopped working, rendering telephony impossible, and an error was stored in the error memory. The issue was isolated to the microphone and voice recognition, with the rest of the audio system functioning normally. The problem was identified as a hardware-specific fault within the infotainment unit, and a diagnostic assessment at a service facility confirmed the defect, leading to a costly repair.

Thanks for the reply! The radio and everything else works fine. Just the microphone for calls. Voice recognition is also dead. Any ideas?

Acknowledging the relative isolation of the problem to the microphone and voice recognition functionalities, in conjunction with the otherwise nominal operation of the system, does reinforce the likelihood of a hardware-specific fault within the infotainment unit. Given the parameters you have outlined, the most prudent course of action would be to schedule a diagnostic assessment at a qualified service facility. This will afford a more granular determination of the failure mode and facilitate a targeted repair strategy.

Thanks a lot. I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed the infotainment system was defective. Repair cost 815€. Ouch!

The symptoms you describe, coupled with an error code, do point towards a potential issue within the infotainment system itself. Have you observed any other unusual behavior from the audio system, such as distorted sound quality or failure to recognize other audio inputs? Furthermore, does the voice recognition system respond at all, or does it remain entirely unresponsive?
