Kangoo heavy steering

My 2019 Renault Kangoo, gasoline engine, is acting up. It has almost 240k kilometers on it. The steering feels super heavy, like I'm wrestling a bear. The power steering seems to be cutting out intermittently, and the steering wheel is vibrating like crazy sometimes. Could it be the steering angle sensor? I've read a faulty coding there could cause this. Anyone else experienced similar Kangoo issues?

Sounds rough! I had something similar happen in my Kangoo. Steering got super heavy, almost like power steering just quit. Did you notice if it was worse at certain speeds or during specific maneuvers? In my case it was the steering angle sensor. So, what do you want to do?

Thanks for chiming in! Yeah, it seems worse when I'm parking or making slow turns, like the power steering is just giving up. So, what did you do about your steering angle sensor? Did you try any diagnostics yourself, or just take it to a shop?

I tried a few basic things, checked the power steering fluid just in case, but I wasn't comfortable messing with the sensor itself. Plus, I didn't have the right tools to recode it if that was the issue. I took it to a local garage, they confirmed it was the steering angle sensor needing recoding. For the price, it wasn't worth the headache of potentially messing something else up. I definitely recommend getting it checked by a pro.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the shop, and you nailed it – steering angle sensor needed recoding. Cost me 195€, including a wheel alignment. Drives like a dream now! Thanks again!
