How bad was the carbon buildup? Did you try cleaning it yourself, or did you take it to a mechanic? Did the contamination affect any other sensors or parts?

The carbon was pretty bad, a thick, black layer. I tried cleaning it myself with throttle body cleaner, but it didn't completely fix it. I ended up taking it to a shop. They said they had to adjust the idle speed after cleaning. It cost me around 425€ for everything. I'd get it checked out by a professional to be safe.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll go to a mechanic, just in case. I'll make an appointment with a good workshop to get it checked out. Your experience really helped. Thanks again!

Hey! I have a Kangoo too, though it's a bit older. Your problem sounds really familiar. I had the same thing happen – check engine light, rough idle, and stalling. Did you check the throttle body for carbon buildup? That's what it was for me.
