Kangoo knock sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Renault Kangoo is experiencing a check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and uneven idling, with diagnostics indicating a defective knock sensor. The issue may stem from a faulty cable or plug connection rather than the sensor itself. It is suggested to inspect the wiring for damage before considering sensor replacement, as damaged wires can affect ignition timing. A workshop visit might be necessary if the wiring inspection does not resolve the issue.

Thanks. Can you elaborate on 'wiring'? Did you find specific points of failure or damage to look for? I'm trying to avoid replacing the sensor unnecessarily if it's just a connection issue.

Well, the cable or plug connection of the component might be defective. I'm no mechanic, I just took it to a workshop to get it fixed.

Understood. Thanks! I'll check the wiring thoroughly, but a workshop visit might be inevitable. Just got a quote for 95€, so I'll go with it.

Sounds familiar. I've got a Kangoo too. Had similar symptoms – check engine light, poor performance. It could be the sensor itself, but definitely check the wiring first. A damaged wire can cause ignition timing headaches.
