Kangoo multifunction steering wheel failure
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Renault Kangoo's multifunction steering wheel has stopped working, with an error related to the steering wheel controls. This issue might be due to a defective cable connection within the steering wheel. A similar problem was experienced by another person with a different car, suggesting it could be a common electrical issue. The recommended solution is to have the wiring checked by a professional workshop to prevent further complications.

Thanks! I haven't thoroughly checked the entire wiring harness yet, only the connection directly at the steering wheel. By 'haywire', do you mean that it also threw an error code or just stopped working completely? I'm trying to gauge how serious this cable issue might be. Is it a common problem?

Yeah, 'haywire' meant it just completely stopped working. No error codes initially, which was super annoying! It could be a simple fix, but honestly, given it's an electrical thing, you might want to get it checked out by a workshop. It's probably something they see all the time. Cost me 95€ in the end.

Okay, thanks for sharing your experience! It seems like heading to the workshop might be the best course of action to avoid further complications and a potential electrical fault. The error memory gives me headache anyway. I will post what I find after the repair.

Ugh, electrical gremlins are the worst! Sounds familiar though. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V70. The radio controls on the steering wheel went haywire. I suspected a sensor issue, but never got to the core of the problem. Have you checked the wiring harness for any obvious damage?
