Glow plugs... yeah, I was thinking that. Is there a way to check if they're faulty without taking them to bits, so to speak?

Well, without proper diagnostic tools, it's tricky. I'd advise going to a workshop. In my case, it was indeed a faulty glow plug. They charged me around 440€ for the repair. Not cheap, but worth it in the end.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable then. At least I have a potential cause to discuss with them. Appreciate the help!

Hey there. Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although it was a petrol engine. Preheating lamp staying on and error codes... Did you check the glow plugs themselves? That's usually the first suspect.
