Karoq heavy steering and vibration issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Skoda Karoq with a gasoline engine. It's done 194532 km. The steering has become really heavy, almost like the power steering has failed completely. Also, the steering wheel vibrates quite a bit at certain speeds. I've had a look online and some people are saying it could be the steering sensor. Apparently, sometimes the coding gets corrupted. Any thoughts? I am wondering if this is related to the electronic stability system and linked to a sensor failure affecting the automotive sensors in general?

Sounds like a steering sensor issue. I had a similar problem with my old Octavia, though the symptoms were a bit different. Have you checked the basics, like power steering fluid level?

Fluid level is fine. I'm thinking it is the steering sensor itself, possibly a coding fault as I've read elsewhere. Is recoding the steering sensor something I could do myself, or is it best left to a professional?

Recoding can be tricky without the right tools and software. Plus, if the sensor is actually faulty, recoding won't solve it. Honestly, I'd take it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and replace the sensor if needed. It'll save you a headache in the long run.

I got this resolved. A local mechanic re-coded the steering sensor and that fixed it. Total cost was 195€. Thanks again for your help!
